Groups of students helped to plant 300 Narcissus bulbs this week for Myasthenia Gravis Association and a local Hospice in memory of their teacher, Rob Gawne.

Myasthenia Gravis is an auto immune disease which is characterized by fluctuating sometimes fatal muscle weakness. It can affect people of all ages and activities taken for granted by most of us can be impossible at times for Myasthenics.

Mr. Crennell’s science group 9R/Sc2 started the activity by mapping out an area on the banking next to the MUGA so that the bulbs could be planted in a huge ‘2008’ shape. Armed with various planting implements the serious job of actually planting the bulbs started.

Despite the mud, cold and extremely hard ground a vast majority of bulbs were planted.

Fortunately a group of year 8 students gave up their lunchtime to help to finish the planting of the bulbs.

Hopefully the bulbs will flourish and give a delightful display in the spring for many years.
